Is that eel ? it look pretty yummy to me 

I love eel, although I've never had it in Laos. I ate it in Korea many times during my travels there. The most extreme thing that I've ever ate was a Korean soup called bosintang, which is dog soup.

Just have to feel sorry for poor Laotians of limited means

I never eat anything unless I know what is actually in the dish.

That is some Korean friend you have. A typical Laotian wouldn't bring a foreign friend to a restaurant to eat meals of that nature. Or we would generally ask first if dogs and cats was something they'd like to try.

Dog meat is very good if properly cooked.

Steam it with soy sauce untill 90% sauce gone. Then, fry it with garlic, green onion and many other spices, esp red little raw chilly.  All done, no one on the table cares about religion, belief, bla bla. Everyone only cares about iced beer lao available? Then, action.

The meat rankings: yellow dog, black dog, dark dog. white one.
