Wow! That must have taken nearly as long to make as the real one.
I am really looking forward to exploring Vientiane and beyond.
Laos looks like a photographer’s paradise.

What have you called that one(Patuxay)?
I never heard of that word. We used to called it: Anousavary.
That next to Lyce, my Old school.

Communist had they own way to renamed everythings they've dislike.
It's sound weird but it made little sense.

Like exp: Ban Hong Lauew changed to be Ban Sou Pharb
What about Paa Kuaw

"Anousavari" is a Thai word.

Lao people in the past called it "Anousavali", but yes you are right that it has been renamed to "Patuxay" because the monument has a new meaning.

So you guys had renamed Anousavary to be Patuxay.
How did you called it to be Patuxay,Communist didn't built it. France financed to built Anousavary not Viet nor USSR or China either.
Names is Name why have to renamed its?
Seems to me The new Lao Communist  had rewritten the history of Laos so the new ganerations won't known the truth.
History is history why have to lie? for what purpose?

I bet, in your new history books would had said: Ex-Pres Kaysone Phomvihane was the last blood of royal.

That's cold blood.....

"Patuxay" means victory gate, it's where they took control of Laos.

Frankly, most people in Laos don't care about the history of Laos. All they care about is enjoying themselves and drinking beerlao with their friends.

You know what my Lao ppls? I hate to say this and hope not offended any one. I kinda get sick of this monument. It's seem like Lao only have this one concret structure and Thart Luang that it. With all respect, my point is, Its getting lame if you see and hear about it too many times. Just like same old jokes aint funny anymore. yall feel me? That all I see and hear about crying out loud  :o Lao being around for 1000 of years. How come we have soooo.. little populations (Khone Lao don't like to have sex or make love or some thing?)  ::) I know Lao is one of the most intelligent ppls and very advance civilization in medival erra and we have thousands of  engineers/artchitects. Where all disappeared to?  :'(
We did it befor and we can do it again right, man bor? When all Lao Stand United as ONE with great inspired leaders.

Laosport, You obviously don't know much about Laos if you think that we only have two structures. They are situated in Vientiane, but northern and southern Laos also have famous structures.

It is sad but true, about the name change.  I don't know why they need to do that.  The elders know their history, but the generation to come will lack the knowledge of it all.  Like the Admin stated, currently people in Laos are too focus on everyday life, drinking beerlao, and not show any care for anything regarding history.   That is why it's up to us that receive the education and knowledge to go back and teach our children this.  We can talk to talk all we want, can we walk to walk and do something about it? For those that have a better life.

Khone gharm I know we have wat pu, plain of jar, thum ting, and the Buddha cave that accidently discovered by fisherman and so many more important pieces of Lao history out there that waited to be cultivate and unveil to the world, to show how rich our tradition and fine culture we had in the past that have passed down to us new generations. Just like I say on previous post, We one of highly advance civilization ppls 1,000 yrs ago. This is Lao history our ancestors left for us to discover and learn from. Thank you Ancestor.
And about the France gave concret monument, I could careless but just irritated my eyes when I see it every where. I mean every where....  ::) And about our Real Lao Icon and piece of our history Thart Luang I still have so much respect for and always will be. But some time I see and heard too much about it, Its make me want to ask what else is new?. And the now the Chinese going to build Chinatown and Businese zone around there, Uh..go luck Lao history.   :-/ :'(

That REAL Sad:'( If new Lao generation don't care, but just care about enjoy/destroy them selves with our own made toxic/poison liquor, Oh Brother. While others kinds advances and taking over our country inches by inches each and every day. who will care Vietcong/RedChinese? Yeah they do care, that why they make sure they gain inches by inches every day.   :-X  :-[. I'm telling straight from all my heart. I do care for Lao history past and future a lot.
Just to reminded you, USA is land of melting pot and all walks of life came here seek freedom and prosperity. Every where we go we representing Lao ppls as "all Lao" not just in USA. every day and any thing I do I put my Lao Pride on it. At my work place there more than 30 South Vietnamese, (They wanted to be call S. Viet) , 30 Hong Kong Chinese, 60 Cambodian and 2 Laotian and %15 others. And yes we are special and smart. She worked in Medical Sale dept. She really Pretty and young, just turned 21 this year. I worked in Purchasing/Marketing Dept. Well You get the idea.
My point is, its would better for lao youth to have sober mind and focus on school rather than just enjoy them selves
like there will be no more world tomorrow. Business before pleasure.
Beside  Beer/Alcohol don't make you better person instead opposites from it.
Too much of it will kill ya! And also Alcohol/drug only will make you dumber and dumber and unattractive and awful bad breath/hygiene. lol..
Just becareful what you consume cuz it might harm your fragile precious body and importantly BRAIN.  ;)

Poo sao Lao changing to be "Kali" (Hooker) so U guys still calling yourself have pride.  I be dam. And U bow Ur head to Buck Keow ( that's Lao pride? )

Doesn't matter how poor we are, Do not Bow Your Head to No One.
Doesn't matter how small we are, Stand tall on Your own feet.
We may be poor but  we have to be proud to ourselves, its better then be a puppet to someone else.

FEAR NO MAN...............
