Title: Want to get back to Laos....
Post by MuangLao on 4th Oct, 2009 at 11:56pm
I miss Laos!!!!!!!!

I want to go back and start a business, but am not sure what kind or how.  I only have 12.000 to invest, so not much. Also, don't know what type of business I could open with this much money.

If I do start a business in Lao, do I autmatically get a work visa so I can stay or do I have to do the monthly visa run?

It's fine to start a business in Laos with $12,000. Lao citizens have alot less money than that and they have a business of some sort.

It's good to have some knowledge or experience in the type of business that you're interested in.

The Lao Embassy in your country provides a business visa for 3 months, you'll need to pay for it. They may provide a long term visa if you plan to stay in Laos for a long time.

There are alot of us can't go back to our mother-father land.
Because of Death List the Laos PDR had it on thier desk for quite so long 34yrs.

Check your last name first before you are going to Laos.
for example: Sananikone (Laos Communist love this name)

We've changed but they don't.
We're shown love but they're shown power.
We're lose and they're won.

After the war, everyone lost. There are no winners of war.

The people who were lucky enough to flee to another country to have a better life lost their homeland, Laos. Many people lost relatives to death camps by the communist. The people that remained have been brain washed to hate those that left the country.

After 30 years, take a look at the country, have they won anything? Our women still get sold to prostitution and the parents are proud of it as long as they see the money. I see the poverty, but no one can help them as long as the viet communist still hold power.

Most people in Laos don't want to talk about this subject cause they are afraid and taught another story (brain washed). I know the admin doesn't like me talking about this stuff either cause it makes Laos look bad but it helps me to understand their way of thinking after 30 years of oppression.

If Laos is so great, then why do they all want to leave to come to America? When I go to Laos, people are begging me to take them out of Laos cause they hate their life of poverty and no future. The only ones that want to stay are the rich communist. I know that the communist are afraid that their time will be up and then they will be brought to justice just like cambodia.

WantLaosToBeIndependence, I'll ask you this, do you think your life is better because you left laos during the war or do you think it would be better if you had stayed and take the chance of dying or living in poverty?

I am mechanic working in our small shop with my friend at Dallas,Tx. Economy falling down the bussiness did pick up that fast. people tend to fix their own cars this day. I have to work full time with the company to get some benefit and part time at the shop. Its little bit stuggling but we are still alive.

2. If I didn't left Laos, I won't have a chance to talk to you today.
But I believe "By Gone should be By Gone"

Dallas Siharath 49 (Kon That Luang,VT) look alot better than those folks in Laos at age of 27.

Not everyone wants to leave Laos and go to America. Most of the younger generation want to visit a western country to experience what life is like there, but then they want to return back home.

If Lao people from overseas were offered a free plane ticket to one destination in the world, 90% of Laotians would choose to come to LAOS. Even though they say negative things about Laos in America, or Australia, or Canada, or France, or somewhere, they still want to come to Laos.

I completely agree with you. It's poverty. It brings a tear to my eye when you hear stories of how girls are being sold to pimps and made to work as prostitutes it makes me sick.
I really want to help these girls. If we don't help them who else will?

Wow, I thought he asked for help starting a business, then you guys started  talking about being in Laos and left Laos. Well, I heard that you can start a business with that kind of money, but you won't get far.  If they noticed your business is prospered then they are going to take you down. They means Lao government, unless you have shit load of money to pay behind the table deal.  Just my 2 cents.  I was thinking like that, but I thought about it and said, F this. But I would mind go hang out in Laos.  Good luck der
