Title: Travelling around Laos in a bed bus
Post by Lao Pride Administrator on 23rd Jul, 2010 at 1:26am
In Laos, we have many choices of bed buses, also known as a sleeper bus. They operate during the night time every day and it is a cheaper form of transportation for long distance travels.

Pillows and blankets are provided, as well as small meals and a bottle of water. There is also a toilet in the bus.

This particular bed bus shown below has more privacy since there is a wall at the back and in front of you, plus a window curtain. So you can cuddle up together with your partner and enjoy the trip. :)

The downside is that each bed is for two passengers, so if you are travelling alone then you will need to sleep beside a complete stranger unless of course you pay double and the whole bed is yours.

I guess it could be a good thing, or a bad thing depending upon who the stranger is.

I've seen same setup in Vietnam, never try it, must be fun, I doubt it's really economical and practical.

Have you ever seen the movie "Eurotrip"?  There's a train scene with the stranger getting close to you every time the train goes underneath the dark tunnel. This is what could happen. LOL

Could you please clarify. You said two person per bed. I see the pictures containing 2 beds in the space. So.... that is possibly 4 person in cabin/space.... meaning... if i wanted room for myself, i would have to pay x4. But if i just want the bed to myself, I pay x2. correct?

USA Joe, It's similar to a bus with seats on the opposite side of the isle, in this case there is another bed opposite you. So yes there is a possibility of four people in each space, and two people on each bed.

Yes, you need to pay x2 for a bed to yourself. I've seen some people do this on rare occasions, but I haven't seen anyone paying x4 for the entire space because it's not necessary for one person to have two beds.
