Title: Is Laos still "under house arrest?"

Does the midnight curfew still stand? Are night clubs in around the city still forced to close up when PM changes to PM?

The authorities are lenient about it. Most night clubs close around 12pm - 1am, but if there's many people inside and more still coming through the doors, then they'll stay open a bit longer. The night club at Don Chan Palace closes the latest, around 3am.

Man, I hate it how these errors happen! Typing on a mobile isn't as easy as it sounds.

I'm gonna assume "lenient involves "tea money". Am I right? Or am I right?

Does the forum look A-Okay on a mobile device?

Tea money may be involved, but they usually don't mind. My relatives tell me that in other countries, night clubs close at 5am.

It is EXACTLY identical; only smaller!

Some don't close at all!

Well there you go. Closing a bit after 12am is nothing to panic about, when we compare to other countries.

Doesn't really bother me, because I really can't DANCE.
How often do you frequent the clubs?

In America all nightclub, bar has to close at 2am or they'll get big fine. No exception. At 2am they don't care if it's full they'll turn off music.

America is a big country, all nightclubs in every state have the same restrictions?

Yes. All the same. In fact most bars set all the clocks ahead 15 minutes. Last call for alcohol (drinks) is around 1:30 (club time), 15 minutes later they will go around and tell you to either drink your drink, or give it up. The music is turned off and the house lights are brought up about 5 minutes before closing time.

I to don't like clubs. I do like pubs, but hey my roots are Irish. Besides it is a different atmosphere, still I work almost every day (3pm to 11:30pm / and 11am to 5pm weekends) so I don't get to go out too much. (Saving for that trip!)

American is probably 50 time bigger then Laos. Every states have same restriction. Every states has autonomy, their own government and law, but they all has to follow federal law.

You have to be in the right mood to go to nightclubs otherwise it can be very boring. The loud music is ear deafening and talking to friends is very limited.

There are many bars in Laos, but they usually associate with working ladies. Nightclubs are for everyone, some people go there to celebrate their birthday.

I only go night club to celebrate friends birthday. It's fun when you're drunk and dance at the club, but I get bore sometime. Some people go every weekend. I don't know how they do it.

It's been a while since I last went, but I remember them playing R&B, Dance, Hip hop, and those sorts of music.

Yes, but I guess it also depends what club you go to.

Maybe if the nightclubs played some olden day Judy Garland music, it will make me visit more. But the chances of it happening is close to 0.

You can request a song to play, but I doubt they will have any of her music.

Sound good Admins. I would like to check out Lao club scene when I has an opportunity to visit Laos. One a while casino, bar and night club is a good place to relaxed after a long long day of work. In US night club there's no working lady allow at all and security is very tight.

The nightclub security in Laos is strict too. With some clubs that have a history of drama, they will do a body search at the entry just in case people bring in weapons.

Sometimes I hear news of fighting in some nightclubs among young men fighting over girls.
