Post by Lephan on 5th May, 2011 at 12:32pm
Hi everybody, i came to your country 2 times, i have Laos friends and i think i love your country. And now i really want to get a job in Vientiane. Please help me to answer some questions:

- What is the best way to find a job in Lao?
- Any website for foreign people to find a job in Vientiane (Which is the best?)
- How much do they pay for us in Vientiane (Not in Teaching English, but in business, public relations - I have a bachelor degree of Business English and working in Event management now)
- Do i need to know Laos language to work in Laos? Thai language is ok?( i can also speak Vietnamese, English and Korean too)

If you come to Laos, you can read the Vientiane Times where jobs are advertised every day.  The best way to search for a job is to be here, but you have to be prepared to spend the time and have the financial resources to support you while you are looking, attending interviews, etc.

From outside Laos,I suggest you use Google to search for the names and email addresses of all the foreign companies working in Laos and send your CV to each.

For most expatriate positions, you would not be expected to speak Lao and would be paid far more than most teachers.

Good luck!

You don't necessarily need to know how to speak Lao fluently.

If you work with a foreign company or non-governmental organization (NGO) in Laos, your colleagues and staff are able to communicate in English with you.

Once you live and work in Laos for a while, you learn simple Lao words naturally, such as greetings, because you hear them all the time.
