Laos deserves the award. The people are laidback and friendly and are known and respected for their honesty. The scenery is gorgeous and the food is delicious.

I love Laos so much I want to work there as an English teacher even though I can make a lot more working elsewhere. Long live Lao! :applause :applause :applause

I dont know, the city I am living in has no universities. High school teachers usually can make 3000-3500 RMB with 5 years teaching experiences, that is about 570 USD monthly. If you are teaching english, math, chemistry and chinese, you can moonlight and get some more extra.

I'm not teaching right now as I'm in America for a month to visit my family. And I am White.

Also, you can make way more money teaching English if you have a degree from an American university.

Title: Re: Is Laos the world's best tourist destination for 2013?

Most people I know make around 150-200RMB/hour teaching English. I only made 120RMB/hour but I don't have nearly as much experience as I'm only 21 and graduated from college about a year ago. I made about 3000RMB/monthin Hunan but only worked part time.

Probably the best countries for making and saving up money if you are an English teacher is Qatar , Kuwait, or UAE in the Middle East. They'll generally provide housing and basic expenses and you make a first world salary (USD $40,000 to $50,000 a year, tax free)

Sorry if I'm going off-topic.

150-200 RMB is the price for like private english teaching centers or some sort of training courses. 3000RMB is nice salary for new graudate now. I  think you did not work in the capital of Hunan.

No, I live in Xi Suan Banna, the southern dot of Yunnan Province, about 10 hours train from Hunan.

I love that spicy fish in Hunan and I can speak Hunan dialect because the dot I live in has at least 200,000 inhabitants with origin of Hunan.  ;D

I want to teach in Xishuangbanna. Do you like the town? Would you prefer to live there or in Kunming? I traveled from Kunming through Xishuangbanna down to Luang Prabang in January and Xishuangbanna seemed like a nice city although I only spent a day there.

Are there any Lao girls in Xishuangbanna? Chinese ladies are also beautiful but I like Lao girls because they have good hearts. :)

My economoics teacher taught us:

When you go out shopping with your girlfriend, she stares at one item for more than 30 seconds, you buy it, that must be a luxury. Then, she stares at another item for another 30 seconds, she is the luxury.  we have too many luxuries.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
