I'll be flying into Phnom Penh soon and I have the choice of either traveling through Vietnam or Laos. Vietnam has a railway system which makes land travel simple. Frankly, the land transportation system of Lao is underdeveloped. Problem is I like Lao more than Vietnam and would prefer to slowly make my way up north. Are there interesting villages I can visit in southern Laos? Thanks.

to lao and fly to China. From Vietiene to China Kunming, 1600 RMB, about 260 USD today's rate.

Pictures of geologic outcrops, mountains, streams, gulleys, ravines, endangered animal species and biomasses, birds, bees and all flowers from trees would be highly interesting to see. ::)
