Title: Travel in Laos
Post by grant on 19th Jan, 2014 at 4:18am
Hi all, I will be coming to Laos sometime in April and was wondering if any members would have any travel tips for me that may come in handy as this will be the first time I have traveled through Laos. Thanks in advance, Grant. :) :) :)

When you go to toilet, just give the money required, 10 cent, then 10 cent. If more, you will be puzzled by sophisticated quantum math problems.  ;D . My experience. Free of charge.  ;D

I want to add a question to this thread. When you are in Laos, where do you have to go to arrange a trek through the countryside? I've seen videos on youtube of some Europeans going with a Lao tour guide into the countryside and visiting some Akha villages and other villages in the mountains.

I love the mountain scenery. Is there anywhere you can go to schedule one of these trips?

Why do I need a taxi driver that speaks English? I know how to speak Lao, and a little bit of Hmong, but I am learning more Hmong now.

I can also read Lao..I was just wondering where is a good place to set up these expeditions.

You really did so? last Oct, we went to Koh Chang, amazing fast for a rainning day, We got caught 3 times. The driver showed a business card saying we are the friends of the guy of the business card. the cop asked us in Thai, we replied in English. We got away free. But, the driver did paiy fine the third time.  Next time, you can try this trick. An amazing country. I love it!
