Title: Recreating the ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz
Post by Admin Saovaluck on 30th Mar, 2015 at 3:51pm
We are preparing to create another beautiful pair of ruby slippers, and finished a pair of hand-sewn bows made from leather and silk fabric. It took us 3 days to get the bows done.

A piece of leather under the silk fabric was thinned out, then beautifully cut into a shape of a bow and dyed red. We are among the best bow makers in the world for ruby slippers. What makes our bows stand out is the fact that the placement of the stones and beads on the fabric look very clean and straight just like the originals.

The rectangular glass stones is exactly identical to the originals. This is the first time we are using these rectangular stones with a larger face cut than previous stones. The "V" cuts on the sides of the stones remain the same.

I can't fit them now, you didn't ask me during my teenage years.

Order a pair one day and Judy Garland can model them for you, considering they are custom-made in her size.

This is a pair of shoes that is next in line to be sequined. As usual, they are custom-made in Judy Garland's size 5B, and this pair has a slim look about them at the toes, created to match one of the pairs Judy Garland as Dorothy wore on the set of The Wizard of Oz.

The bottom of the shoes has been painted glossy red, and we need to write Judy Garland's name inside the shoes, and insert a piece of woven Innes Shoe Company label inside the right shoe only.

The right shoe as they look at the moment. It takes many hours of sewing to make high quality ruby slippers so you have to keep yourself motivated at all times.

We are no slouch at making hand-sewn ruby slippers like the originals, probably in the top 2 or 3 in the world. The sequins are sewn onto the shoe in a neat and orderly manner, a sign of an experienced ruby slipper fashion designer.

When shopping for a pair of ruby slippers, One: I recommend people to go the distance and pay a bit extra to get themselves a high quality pair that is more magical and connected to Judy Garland, rather than settle for a low quality pair that looks cheap and they'll never be happy with. And two: Always buy ruby slippers from professionals who know their craft because more often than not, they use the right materials and techniques.

We have finished sewing around 2,500 sequins on the right shoe. They are sewn tightly like the original ruby slippers so nothing becomes loose when Judy Garland jumps around.

The shoe actually feels a bit heavier once you add the bow and sequins but not to the point where you can't walk in it. If they were real rubies, it would be hard to move.

This is a master display of talent in crafting high quality ruby slippers, using nothing but a regular straight beading needle at every angle of the shoe. There's no time to relax yet, work has now commenced on the left shoe.

We have finished creating yet another masterpiece. At least 9 hours each day was spent on sewing, and it took 14 hours on the last day to apply the finishing touches to the ruby slippers, so it was tiring, but lots of hard work and dedication definitely went into it.

This stunning pair of ruby slippers was handmade to look in excellent pristine condition, and only worn by Judy Garland's spirit.
