I don't think she thought that way about him in the real world though. I think Mickey Rooney was more interested in Judy Garland than the other way round.

Don't mean to be too shallow but I don't think Mickey is an eye candy type even when he was younger. Perhaps they shared just a friendly 'brother-sister' relationship and not really inclined to any sexual feelings towards each other.

I think Mickey Rooney had sexual feelings towards Judy Garland.

They certainly had a brother/sister relationship during their early adolescence years together at MGM, but as the years went by Judy Garland grew up into a beautiful young lady and he wanted to turn the friendship into a love relationship.

I don't think his looks really matters, it's all about money and power. He did marry some beautiful actresses but those marriages didn't last long.

Judy Garland had a thing for older men, and not the boyish type of guys like Mickey Rooney who also happened to be a womanizer and that's a turn off for her.

He had a crush on Judy Garland but he couldn't win her heart.

I would guess it was too awkward for Judy to be romantically involved with Mickey because they had interacted together since they were teenagers.

Yes Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney basically grew up together.

Sometimes you see movie stars work together on a film and then fall in love with each other in the real world, and you see childhood friends getting married, so it can work out.

It just didn't happen with Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney but they were both very good actors.

Wow...the age discrepancy between Dorothy and the Scarecrow was 18 years apart. Dorothy must have been 17 yrs old and the Scarecrow was 35 when she got some for the first time. Perhaps the Scarecrow was the first known pedophilia of all history of pedophilia?  :tongueincheek

Dorothy and the Scarecrow actually fell in love.

The romance scene that was suppose to take place was cut from the final film, whether this is to keep it shorter or the relationship was considered inappropriate.

But yeah interestingly there was suppose to be a romance between Dorothy and the Scarecrow, that's why when she leaves Oz, she tells the Scarecrow, "I think I'll miss you most of all."
