Electric buses in Vientiane run within the city and on the shorter routes.

The bus leaves at Lao-ITECC shopping mall or the Mekong riverside, and you can pretty much catch one on the streets just by waving your hand because they can stop anywhere to pick up or drop off passengers along their route.

The cost is only 5,000 kip (60 US cents) per person.

Is the plastic rolled up on the sides for when it rains?

Yes, particularly during the rain season they always have the plastic rolled up on each side of the bus just in case it rains.

Open air buses have a duty of care for passengers to stay dry while traveling on board.

Do the lectic buses charge at night then run all day?  Do the
buses have solar panels on roofs to provide exra energy?
