Title: Patuxay Monument in Vientiane, Laos in 1992

In Laos, we call this war monument in Vientiane as "Patuxay" which was renamed in 1975 by the current Lao Government.

Most Lao people living in a foreign country still remember and call this monument by the original name as "Anousavali."

You can see the view of Vientiane city from the top of Patuxay. Laos was still very poor around 30 years ago so Vientiane looks more like a small town than a city with plenty of green trees and lack of high-rise buildings.

In 1992, the Patuxay Monument looks empty and abandoned when walking inside. Now there are souvenir shops and many tourists but the current COVID-19 situation has made the monument feel like the past again.

We hope you enjoy our old video of the Patuxay Monument that is not available anywhere else!
