The highlight of Judy Garland's career came in 1938 when Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film studio gave her the green light to play Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, her first starring role in a colour film (her prior full length films were in black and white).

Judy Garland emerged as the new rising star in the twenty-fourth century after winning an Academy Juvenile Award.
