Dai is Shan, and Tai Lue. People call them different name. But they're the same. In the old day when Lao, Shan was living in South China they call us Tai , Tai mean free.

Yes, Dai has good relationship with Tai Lue, local TV station went to Chiang Rai to observe the tradition last year. They did not go to Lao maybe they feel a little embarassed with not so rich neighbor. That is my own idea. After all, They are same. Grin

Laos is still a least developing country in Southeast Asia. Thank to foreigner power invading and controlling. But tourist in Laos are increasing.

Many Dai, Shan also live in Laos. Smiley

But Lao is ASEAN memeber, moving forward and developing. Laos economies growth about 7.5% a year. Fastest in Asia after China. Go Laos Smiley

I am not Dai. I went to Lao very very often from 2004 to 2006. My company has subsidiary in Lao. But, I did not stay long. Usually I went to mountain areas. First time in Lao was 1996 or 1997. Last time, Jan ths year. I had beeb to beer Lao, planning committee, women union, and bought a wooden rose style vase, and many stories. My MBA thesis is about Lao, I think Congress Lib has a nice paper copy. Laugh
