It depends on the severity of the accident. For minor offences you generally just pay the police on the spot and you're right to go, it's a corruption issue that won't go away.

If you're a public nuisance or you cause death as a result from drunk driving then you can expect some jail time and heavy fines.

Basically if you have the cash you can get away with anything.Totally understandable it works like that everywhere.Unless you have a hugh public out cry and they make a big stink .You guys heard about the accident that one of the grandson of red bull founder ? In Thailand he ran over a cop with his Ferrari and drag him to death.I wonder
